Its a party not a reception....

So apparently my child who is getting married is looking to have a Pizza Party for her reception.  I'm not really "feeling it" but its her party.  Its not what I imagined as a reception in fact its not even being called a reception its being called "a Party" so with that in mind I'm thinking we can do this whole thing for less then 10K what do you think?  I mean really how much does pizza cost?  Drinks well that can't be much.  DJ, photographer cake we're done.  She's coming up this weekend so we should be able to sit and get a good idea of what she is thinking.  Some how I now see glow in the dark sticks, strobe lights, and me sitting there very bored.  NOOOOOOOO.  tell me its not so.  PLEASE TELL ME NOOOOOO.

So the child I have getting married has decided that she wants a pizza/dance party.  Yes you heard me correctly.  She wants pizza and no formality at all to her reception that is now being dubbed a "party".  Oh please I see glow sticks, a strobe light and me being very bored and going home early with a head ache. NOOOOOO please NO.  Well the upside to all this is that I'm sure we can do this all under 5K.  Now that's a plus.

But if it were a reception I imagine it would look something like this..... Love the draped entry way.

So I never knew this but if you send a wedding invitations to the President.  You will get an official congratulatory letter from him and the First Lady huh learn something new everyday.

Ingredients

• 1 package yellow cake mix (regular size)
• 6 cups cold milk
• 3 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
• 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
• 1 jar (12-1/4 ounces) caramel ice cream topping
• 1-1/2 cups chopped Diamond of California® Pecans, toasted
• 2 cans (21 ounces each) apple pie filling
• 2 cartons (16 ounces each) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

• Prepare and bake cake according to package directions, using two greased 9-in. round baking pans. Cool for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
• In a large bowl, whisk milk, pudding mixes and apple pie spice for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set.
• Cut one cake layer if necessary to fit evenly in an 8-qt. punch bowl. Poke holes in cake with a long wooden skewer; gradually pour a third of the caramel topping over cake. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup pecans and spread with half of the pudding mixture.
• Spoon one can of pie filling over pudding; spread with one carton of whipped topping.
• Top with remaining cake and repeat layers. Drizzle with remaining caramel topping and sprinkle with remaining pecans. Refrigerate until serving. Yield: 42 servings (3/4 cup each).

I've seen this center piece before and I really like it.  I wish I could find it cause I would use it this weekend for Roberts birthday party. 



another idea for decorating a warehouse for a reception.  What I'm getting from the photos Ive seen is that lighting will make the difference. 



I like in this picture below that the head table has all black table cloth.  I know she wont have assigned seating or a head table but I do think there should be a designated table for the bride and groom to sit and take a rest or even eat at.
